POSTCARD FROM … Велико Търново (Veliko Tarnovo)

On our way to Romania we had a stopover in Veliko Tarnovo, 230km northeast of Sofia. We spent an easygoing weekend at a friend’s place, sitting by the fire chatting and I got a private Rap Concert just for me.

However, we also got to see something of the town itself, which is one of the oldest city in Bulgaria. In fact, it was the country’s capital in the second Bulgarian Empire. The town’s highlight is definitely the Царевец (Tsarevets), a very impressing medieval fortress. Moreover, it was fun to walk the cobblestone streets, to visit cafés and to have good food. Dancing in TAM Club was fantastic. Open-minded people, great music -I enjoyed partying there a lot!
