What is your favourite place and why? (Uganda)

My two favourite places are in Italy; Venice  and the Po Delta Regional which  is 90 km south of Venice. I went there for the Man and Biosphere (MAB) Youth Forum in 2017 organized  by UNESCO. At the event, I  met young people from over 180 different countries and there was a lot of interaction. I visited the countryside and also did cycling, canoe riding and other activities such as bird watching and a sightseeing tour around Venice. Admittedly, I  missed Ugandan food. It  was a little bit difficult to adapt; I  had for example fried seashells  but overall I enjoyed the time I spent there.

I have not yet visited a lot of different places but I am sure that Venice will always rank highly. I had heard a lot of interesting things about the city and my visit simply confirmed it because the city is beautiful and magnificent. There are no cars allowed in this city of Italy. Hundreds and hundreds of rivers crisscross the city, all connected to the Adriatic Sea.

In Uganda, I like to spend time in Entebbe. It is a small and unique town located 40 km south of Kampala at the shore of Lake Victoria. I love nature and that place has a great diversity of cultures on display. In terms of biodiversity, it is also very much enriched with various plants, birds, and animals which are found in the zoo.

I also happen to visit Western Uganda, and I found that it has series of breathtaking landscapes, though I simply saw it from a car when traveling to Fort Portal and Kasese, but it is an amazing place that I would love to visit again.

Meine zwei Lieblingsorte befinden sich in Italien: Venedig und der Po-Delta Regionalpark, der sich 90 km südlich von Venedig befindet. Die Orte habe ich im Rahmen des von der UNESCO organisierten „Man and Biosphere (MAB) Jugendforum 2017“ besucht. Ich habe dort Menschen aus 180 verschiedenen Ländern kennengelernt und es gab viel Austausch. Ich war auf dem Land unterwegs und bin Fahrrad und Kanu gefahren. Auch andere Unternehmungen wie Vögel beobachten und eine Stadtführung durch Venedig habe ich gemacht. Ich habe zwar ugandisches Essen vermisst und ich fand es schwierig mich dem Essen dort anzupassen, es gab zum Beispiel gebratene Meeresfrüchte, aber insgesamt habe ich die Zeit, die ich dort verbracht habe, sehr genossen.

Ich habe bisher noch nicht viele Orte besucht, aber ich bin mir sicher, dass Venedig immer einer meiner Lieblingsorte bleiben wird. Ich hatte damals viele gute Sachen über die Stadt gehört und mein Besuch hat dies nur bestätigt, denn die Stadt ist wunderschön. Autos sind in dieser Stadt Italiens nicht erlaubt und aberhunderte von Flüssen, verbunden mit der Adria, durchziehen die Stadt.

In Uganda verbringe ich gerne Zeit in Entebbe, eine kleine, unverwechselbare Stadt, 40 km südlich von Kampala am Ufer des Lake Victoria gelegen. Ich liebe die Natur und dieser Ort hat eine große Kulturvielfalt. Es gibt dort auch eine hohe Biodiversität von Pflanzen und Vögeln sowie Tieren, die im Zoo untergebracht sind.

Ich habe auch Westuganda schon besucht und habe festgestellt, dass es dort eine Reihe von atemberaubenden Landschaften gibt, auch wenn ich sie nur aus dem Auto auf der Reise nach Fort Portal und Kasese gesehen habe. Dennoch ist es eine großartige Gegend, die ich gerne wieder besuchen würde.

Mes deux endroits préférés sont Venise et le Parc National Po Delta qui se situe 90 km au sud de Venise, les deux se trouvent donc en Italie. J’y suis allé dans le cadre du « Man and Biosphere Youth Forum » en 2017 organisé par l’UNESCO. J’ai rencontré des jeunes gens venant de plus de 180 pays différents et il y avait beaucoup d’échange. J’ai visité la campagne et entrepris une variété d’activités différentes comme le vélo, le kayac, l’observation d’oiseaux et une visite guidée dans Venise. La nourriture ougandaise m’a manquée. C’était un peu difficile à s’adapter, il y avait par exemple des coquillages frits. Dans l’ensemble j’ai passé un très bon séjour.

Je n’ai pas encore visité beaucoup d’endroits différents mais je suis sûr que Venise sera toujours une de mes places préférées. Avant de partir, j’avais entendu beaucoup de choses intéressantes sur la ville et ma visite n’a que fait confirmer ceci parce que la ville est magnifique. Les voitures ne sont pas autorisées dans cette ville d’Italie et des centaines de rivières reliées à la mer Adriatique traversent la ville.

En Ouganda, j’aime passer mes weekends à Entebbe, une petite ville unique située 40 km au sud de Kampala au bord du lac Victoria. J’aime beaucoup la nature et cet endroit est doté d’une grande diversité culturelle. C’est aussi une ville très riche en faune et flore, il y a beaucoup de plantes d’espèces différentes, des oiseaux et des animaux dans le zoo.

J’ai aussi visité l’ouest de l’Ouganda et j’ai trouvé que les paysages sont à couper le souffle, bien que j’ai seulement vu la nature depuis une voiture pendant un trajet allant à Fort Portal et Kasese. C’est un endroit incroyable que j’aimerais visiter à nouveau.
