Well then,
„The next post is going to come in a few days“ was probably a bit incorrect; it took me two weeks for the German and nearly two months for the English version, but whatever, I was quite busy.
I’d just like to get you up to date what’s going on in my world here.
At the moment I’m working more than usual at school: tomorrow is the day of the DSD exams where I of course am busy. The students seem well prepared; I’ve got a good feeling about it. In addition to that there’s going to be the annual German Theatre Plays in the National Theater this week in which a group from “my” Gospodarska skola is participating; the main act is a group from a Romanian theatre school. Originally, I was only helping the students with pronunciation and doing a bit of co-direction, due to various accidents and illnesses amongst our participants, however, I am now going to act on stage (which is extraordinarily fun to me, I might add). Unfortunately I’m replacing a girl, which means I will be seen live with high-heels and make-up; anyway (for me) or better: because of that (for all others) it’s going to be great fun.
The biggest part of my current work will be consumed by something different from next week on: my own project! I actually was capable of getting into something (after more than half a year) that will hopefully work out. Together with my fellow volunteer Rike who works in Oroshaza/Hungary, I will organize an exchange between my schools and her school – communication on German –, whose result is supposed to be a more or less professional German short film which we will shoot all together in the Hungarian film studios belonging to the school. That sounds like a lot of work. It is indeed a lot of work. It is even more work than it sounds like considering that we have about 3 months of school left, and within those 3 months we have to get everything done from the beginning until the end. But because that is much more of a motivation than an obstacle for us, I’m looking forward to working with Rike and hopefully a successful exchange/a film which fulfills our expectations. I’ll keep you up to date considering what’s going on and what’s the state of play.
In the last weeks I’ve been wandering around a bit. On the second weekend after the Winter Break I went home due to the election of the new… hm, how do I put this? Well, some Ravensburg traditional thing that means a lot to me, it would take me quite some time to explain all of it. On the following weekend I was spontaneously home again because my grand-grandmother had passed away at the age of 102 years and I wanted to attend the funeral service. I’m really glad that I decided to go, also because it gave me the opportunity of seeing most of my family.
The two weekends after that were spent in Varazdin; my number of friends keeps growing, and in addition to that, two young students my age moved into the room next to mine; I don’t think I will ever be bored again here. On the second-last weekend in February I went to Germany again, but to Munich instead of home. On Sunday there was the premiere of the musical “Dangerous Liaisons”; it was written by Wolfgang Adenberg, the music was composed by my uncle Marc Schubring (which is why I went there). A magnificent piece which will be shown around Germany another time; as soon as that happens, I can only recommend it to everybody. Also the critics and reviews were mostly really positive.
One week later I was home again, and again the traditional thing I mentioned before was the reason. And two days ago finally I visited some friends in Zagreb; I slept at a fellow volunteers place after having gone out with her and some more friends that I met during the exchange to Ravensburg (I wrote about that in the beginning of January) – a very nice evening which will be repeated.
In about three weeks there’s going to be Easter holidays here and of course I’ve planned a bit of travelling; afterwards – as soon as I have something interesting to tell – I’m going to send some vital signs again.
Cheers
Florin.
