Nigeria is a country with a population of over 170 million people. A country with a diverse cultural mix and languages but an amazing thing is the peaceful coexistence that has existed for decades amongst its people though at a point in the past, there was a war that lasted for three years 1967-1970 that was fought to keep the country as one because peace as it is said comes at a price.
Life in Nigeria is a mix of happiness and sadness but the resilience of the people is what really fascinates the admirers of the country considering it been one of the top 100 nations of happy people as it is measured by Happy Planet Index. Everyday life in Nigeria is a struggle to achieve goals and aspirations of life though the future might look bleak. Optimism is a trait found in most Nigerians as we believe change is a constant. Corruption in government might be rife but it won’t last forever.
Wealth disparity is one factor that brings sadness and misery to some Nigerians as the percentage of the poor is far greater than that of the rich. Religion occupies a central role in the life of most Nigerians as they believe there is a supernatural being up there that they would answer up to when they are no longer alive.
Living in Nigeria tends to toughen you to brace up for the challenges which lies ahead, challenges of not being left in the dark, challenges of being a failure, challenges of not making an impact in the life of people around you.
Life in Nigeria is an experience worth sharing.
