For those of my dear friends who do not know the programme “kulturweit” I will explain briefly the opportunity and the requirements that where exposed to people applying for it!
The German Ministriy of Foreign Affairs and the German UNESCO Commission support the programme. It is a organisation that communicates between the government and other organisations as the Goethe Insitut, the UNESCO National Commission, the Deutsche Welle, the Deutsche Archäologische Insitut and some more… My sending organisation is the Goethe Institut.
We, the volunteers, should bring the German culture, language and values to other countries and make people curious about them. And yes, indeed the Auswärtige Amt expect from us that we spread a “positive picture of Germany” and so on and so forth.
Not as easy as it sounds at first because what does it mean “a positive picture of Germany”? We gonna see how I can cope with those expectations in Ulaanbaatar and what kind of image is already in the heads of the people….
