Just a short Update on school stuff… Too many things to put in one post, this is why I tried to separate stuff 😀

First time really seeing how it works when to write a test in Mongolia. They are so inconsequent concerning cheating, copying and more. So sad to see that when the bagsha (Mongolian: teacher) goes out of the room, pupils start looking at their partners paper. With grade 11 I was pretty strict because there have been all those very simple exercises we worked through the last few weeks. Unfortunately, in all they all had very bad results. In grade 9 the teacher decided to give the test as homework as the pupils did not know anything. And she gave me the crucial hint: the pupils are not only sorted in a class by good and bad but also the classes are sorted: Grade A is best, B middle and so on and so forth… Know I do understand why I come to certain classes and to others not. Maybe better like this. Max and Uch (so meat and fat) is very yummie and healthy 😀
This week I had as well my best lesson ever! And this was on my birthday! Christmas is normally not a thing the people celebrate here, just for commercial reasons I guess. And therefore most of the people do not really know why Christians are celebrating it! So I did not do any creative stuff with my grade nine this week but instead tried to explain a bit Christmas and everything around to them! First of all we started simply by a power point explaining some main vocabulary (such as Christmas tree, advent, Christmas market, cookies and more), then by singing a German Christmas song (Ihr Kinderlein kommet) followed by a reading of the christmas story (yeah I really tried to re write it in A1 level :D) Kinda difficult. But by the help of another power point explaining some difficult vocabs in pictures I can be happy they understand why Christians do celebrate Christmas. In the end we watched a play of the Christmas story that I found on youtube followed by singing Stille Nacht ☺ I am getting better in planning a 60 minute lesson!

On Wednesday I had a very very lovely day at the French schoon of UB located in the French embassy ☺ I had to talk in front of 10 lovely cute pupils about Germany. They were very attentive and had a worksheet to fill in! I was pretty much amazed that those little ones maybe all around grade 1 or 2 were able to listen to me and fill in at the same time their worksheet! Amazing! They had so many cute questions such as “Est-ce que tu peux écrire “allemande” au tableau s’îl-te-plaît?” or Josephine explained to me that she already has been to Berlin. Even little Gabriel told me that his father is from Switzerland and more… I had some German money demonstration with me and of course some Kinder chocolate. In the end some gave me little drawings they made in the end for me! Feeling over the moon I walked back to school 48, to go to the first movie sessions of two!
- 10 pupils in a class (instead of up to 60 in the puplic schools)
- Husug Book cover, Kinder chocolate and my mac… ready, set, go!
- Love letters from the little ones!
